new to the watchlist: Leyfdu ljosinu, by Hildur Guðnadóttir

Wildbirds and Peacedrums fans take note. (The rest of you, too.) Icelandic cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir — who provided choral arrangements for Andreas and Mariam’s Retina — has released her third solo album, and her second on Touch. Leyfdu ljosinu (“Allow the light”) is a sparse and otherworldly thing of cello, voice, and gentle manipulations. Listen to the prelude here. This one promises to be huge.
