Prog rockers Coheed & Cambria are set to release another edition to the ongoing fictional saga The Amory Wars. This time in a double album with each volume having its own unique release date. Volume One will be called The Afterman: Ascension and it is set for release on October 9th, 2012 while Volume Two will be called The Afterman: Descension and is currently set for a February 2013 release. Frontman Claudio Sanchex had the following to say about the new albums and how they fit into the story
line:
This is without a doubt, the most honest record I’ve ever written. Though all the songs can be interpreted through our main character in the story, they were initially written in a very spontaneous manner. In the past I’ve always had a predetermined idea of what the story was going to be when I approached the songs. With ‘The Afterman’ being a new story within the (“The Amory Wars”) arc, I allowed the events of my life to drive the concept, and therefore opened up the songwriting to a fuller degree.
There's also a teaser trailer for the new albums although it doesn't really hit to the band's musical direction.
