free download, for now: “Hey! For Horses,” by The Rest

Everyone here remember The Rest? You do? So you remember how their hard drive melted down into a siliconized phenolic ooze? And so went their forthcoming album?

The errant hard drive has finally been restored, Old School Cockpit Black Box-Style, and it’s almost time to talk about reviews again. Tours. Magazine covers. Grammys. The fittingly-titled Seesaw is due June 12, and — while it boasts a decidedly noise pop/statique chromatique ethic — our favorite tracks are the ballads. I don’t know, somehow they evoke 1950s Dance Offs and Exactly Right This Minute in equal measures, and you know how we’re suckers for equal measures.

That’s probably enough uppercase letters for today, so we’ll leave you with this: they’re posting a track a week on their Bandcamp , so go get “Hey! For Horses” now while you can. When the next track goes up, the last one comes down. Great stuff.
