preview: Guilt OST, by Matthew Collings

And here’s the best part: you’re never quite sure which Matthew Collings will show up. There is his Sketches For Albinos project: a delicate, nostalgic, macro-lens union of piano and samples. There is the Convex Mancave collaboration with Chriz Tenz and Greyhound Out Of Mainline: a rambunctious, ultra-modern interpretation of noise and processing. And then there is the man himself: experimental composer, collaborator, and music philosopher/aficionado of the highest order.

Add one more to that CV: film score composer.

In early February, Collings announced his forthcoming OST for Hakon Palsson’s short film Guilt. Today you can stream the preview just below, and watch the trailer at page bottom. Credits? We aim to please: “Violins by Lorcan Doherty, recorded by Clive Mitchell. Everything else by Matthew Collings.” The stricken violins and taps of piano promise a truly gorgeous release.

UPDATE: so, the player didn’t embed. At all. And Mr. Collings has added another track to the Soundcloud page. Here is the track we were writing about, and here is the new track. Do enjoy.
