Lots (and lots and lots and lots) of acclaim for the new PS I Love You. It comes as no surprise: the last we heard from them was the "Subdivisions" rescore, of which we...

El Blov Musique: 20/11/2011

It’s been a while since our last Blov Musique, but they’re overdue. You should see our submissions inbox.

First up is Chris Tenz, the Calgary-based composer and vocalist. His forthcoming album Frozen Arms is moving and simple, although deceptive in scope. Stream it here:

Next is “Living With Dinosaurs,” the second single from a forthcoming EP by Arundel. There is a slick, prog-rock ethic at work here, with a lower-threshold pulse, crafty acoustic guitar motif, and stinging central question: What can we do with a lifetime? Stream here, download at the Bandcamp page. Read more at the home page.

Even though their name reminds us of how desperately we need a vacation, we really enjoy the self-titled Foreign Resort debut. The taut and dissonant guitar, brooding baritone voice, and headline-news rhythm section will take 25 years off of your life. But proceed with caution, it never heals quite like it used to:

Last is “Fever Rose,” by A Scribe Amidst The Lions, from their upcoming split 7″ with Sour Soul. The track is bookish, proud, well-seasoned. A kinetic guitar fever dream serves as the setting for west-coast shaman vocal harmonies. Great stuff. Click onward for more. Ironic trivia of the day: the band used to be named Split Infinity, until they learned that several other bands and a couple of books shared the same name. Split infinity, indeed. Stream right here:

Until next time, minions…
