Electroacoustic übersite Fluid Radio has added a user forum to its webzine/record label/radio station/online retailer/photography/iPhone app format. Seriously, for the website you thought already had everything…
In our first of two novelty sites, The Best Band Ever promises to take user-generated band rosters and create a mock band biography. It’s fun, but it’s powered externally, so it’s a bit choppy. For example, try typing in Jeff Buckley, Niel Peart, David Crosby, Tori Amos, and Justin Bieber, which results in The Peart Justin of Buckley, a “5-piece band from Berlin.” BBE continues, “His full-length full-band album, Grace, was released on November 17, 1966 to musicians Tim Buckley and Mary Guibert.” Even the non sequiturs are great fun, though. Start here.
A bit more seamless is Drinkify, which recommends the ideal beverage for a musical selection. Apparently two ounces Macallan Scotch goes well with Carlos Suarez, and one bottle of Box wine is the ideal accompaniment for the music of Pink Floyd. And while “The Thom Yorke” is the shudder-inducing one part Microbrew, one part Grenadine and two part Laphroaig Scotch — combine in a shaker! — “The Radiohead” is, quite simply, one Fat Tire.
