Downtown Austin, TX, known as ‘The Live Music Capital of the World’ is the focal point of the new documentary Echotone. After watching House Hunters a few times, certain nuisances should be obvious home buying deterants: being close to a train track, near an airport, and in this case, close to a concert venue. These high rise property owners featured in the film sought after a downtown location without thoroughly thinking about the repercussions of living near an opened roof venue like Stubbs. As nearly two dozen high-rises pop up throughout the city, a new battle is in place between the music hot spots downtown and the condo owners “I felt like I was being terrorized, like some terrorist had gotten into my bedroom and was going to terrorize me at 2 o’clock in the morning. That’s not right.” The film features musicians: Bill Baird, Dana Falconberry, Belaire, Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears, The White White Lights, Ghostland Observatory and The Black Angels. In Austin, this doc has been selling out theaters since it’s opening day on April 24.
