MP3s: We Are Augustines – “Book of James” & “Chapel Song”

We Are Augustines is what is left of the shattered Brooklyn band Pela. The enduring Pela remnants comprise of Billy McCarthy and Eric Sanderson. Following the release of Pela’s debut Anytown Graffitti, the band dismantled after singer-songwriter McCarthy’s brother committed suicide.  ”Book of James” is about McCarthy’s brother’s struggles with addiction and subsequent suicide. Here are “Book of James” and “Chapel Song” that will be on their debut album Rise Ye Sunken Ships (June 2011).  In addition, the tonsil hockey video for “Chapel Song” and a short documentary on the making of the album.  Another song you can download from their debut produced by Dave Newfeld (Broken Social Scene) is an acoustic version of “East Los Angeles” on their Facebook page. WAA are currently touring with The Boxer Rebellion.
