The Shimmies are a Northern California band that consists of three brothers and a close friend. We’ve all seen what can happen when brothers are in a band together but my hopes are the Galloway boys settles their differences in a little more refined manner. However they’re compromising on their sound is just fine with me though.
The band has just self-released their sophomore album To All Beloved Enemies to quite a bit of praise for their emotionally charged lyrics and dual harmonies. Comparisons have been drawn to Band of Horses and Fleet Foxes, one person even threw in Sigur Ros although I’m not sure where that one came from.
Below you can watch the video for the Brandon Vedder directed track “Judas”. Coming in at a whopping 7 minutes long, “Judas” starts out a little slow but gains speed quickly toward the mid point. The video itself is pretty moving in and of itself but combine that with the solemn track and you have the makings of something truly special.
