One thing that I look forward to each year is We Listen For You‘s March Music Madness. It’s a chance for those of us that don’t care about college basketball to get involved in some kind of bracket that we do actually know something about. The other nice part is that it’s guaranteed that the lady in the office that never watches sports and makes her picks based on uniform color or which city has the best shopping is not automatically going to win.
There are some ground rules as to how a band ended up in a bracket though. They had to have released an album since 2005, been created since 1985 (I’m not sure why this rule is in place), has to have some relevance to the music scene today and previous winners are ineligible (Radiohead, Animal Collective, Arcade Fire).
The first round of voting will start on March 21st which is during SXSW so if you’re heading down to Austin make sure to find some coffee shop with wifi so you can cast your vote.
