The Decemberists Announce 2011 Release

For some reason with the launching of the new site this post did not get included in the transfer so let’s give it a second try.

Today The Decemberists announced the follow up to their 2009 concept album The Hazards of Love.

January 18th will mark the release date for The King Is Dead. The ten track album will be out via Capitol where they will be joined by Gillian Welch and R.E.M.’s Peter Buck on various tracks.

I have my doubts that this album will turn out to be as epic as The Hazards of Love. But I can only imagine that a band has one good concept album in them for their career and The Decemberists have used theirs.

While you’re here take a listen to the first single from the album.
