Pinemarten Releases Follow Up EP

Just a few weeks ago we wrote about Pinemarten, an anonymous Chesterfield native writing music that we described as "electronic without belaboring the point". With just a few weeks under his belt as an official...

Rodriguez-Lopez & Frusciante Record Album Together

Two of the finest and most progressive guitarists that currently occupy planet Earth have joined forces to use their powers for good. The Mars Volta’s Omar Rodriguez-Lopez and former Red Hot Chili Pepper John Frusciante have recorded a 30 minute, 7 track EP called simply Omar Rodríguez-López And John Frusciante.

The duo are offering up the album for free with an option to donate the amount of your choosing. All the proceeds from the album will go to support “Keep Music In Schools” programs. If you’re unsure what you think the album will be worth to you then you also have the option to stream it in it’s entirety on Omar’s website.

The album is completely instrumental with cryptic track titles like “0=2″. For the most part the tracks sound like some of the tamer intros and endings to Mars Volta songs. All the tracks come in at a reasonable time limit (nothing over 5 minutes) and offer up a healthy dose of effects but never stray too far from a determined melody. It’s all quite enjoyable to be honest with you.
