I have so many release dates running through my head during the year that sometimes they get mixed up and it doesn’t help to try and keep track of both US and UK dates. Normally this is not a problem until later in the year when lists are being compiled and there tends to be a chance that a UK release date is in the current year and the US release date is in the following year (ie Local Natives). In cases such as this I use the US release date, being a Dallas based blog and all, to determine what year’s top ten list a release has the potential to make an appearance on. This is where I got all messed up with one of the greatest albums I’ve heard and been bragging about all year.
Mumford and Sons released their debut full length album Sigh No More on Island Records in the UK on October 5th with a US date of October 20th. Somewhere along the lines my wires got crossed and I had myself convinced that Sigh No More was going to be a 2010 US release date even though in multiple places I, myself have written posts about the Oct. 20th date.
Let this be my official apology to both tMiM readers and fans of the band. I have gushed about Mumford and Sons all year and if I had included them in the Top Ten LP’s of 2009 list you are guaranteed that there would have been a mighty battle between them and Silversun Pickups for the number 1 spot. It would have been one for the ages.
