Shearwater – "Castaways"

Quite a few songs pass over my desk each day and it’s becoming less and less often that one causes me to sit back, take pause and let every note sink in. That’s what Shearwater’s “Castaways” has done to me this afternoon. It’s ambitious, lush and just shy of epic. Simply put it’s just a beautiful track. Jonathan Meiburg’s voice is a feature and fits in somewhere between operatic and baroque.

Along with the music the album will include a 50 page bound book with pictures and details about Meiburg’s trips from the Falklands to Madagascar and the Bikini Atoll to the Tierra Del Fuego.

“Castaways” is featured on the upcoming LP The Golden Archipelago, out February 23rd via Matador Records. From now until the street date you can pre-order the album and receive a 15% discount here.
