Pinemarten Releases Follow Up EP

Just a few weeks ago we wrote about Pinemarten, an anonymous Chesterfield native writing music that we described as "electronic without belaboring the point". With just a few weeks under his belt as an official...

#currently listening: Mirador/Pwdre Ser

#currentlylistening: Passion Is Dead, by Fevers

Just under 30 minutes of nostalgic celestial gorgeousness from Ottawa. Soulful, nutrient-dense vocals like these threaten to raise the stakes for the genre. The name Fevers is dead-on, and singer Sarah Bradley has...

TMIM reviews: Gauntlet Hair s/t

#currentlylistening: Agent Fresco

l_49f9998f1ce049f88e346ed1c1f78eebThe day has come, geezers. There is no better time, either: Florida real estate is dirt cheap and GPS will make sure we can find our dirt-cheap homes after a long day at the bingo hall.

Wait. What’s that? You don’t accept the premise? Neither did we, until Timespan, by Majeure:

Don’t like how your future panned out? Join the crowd. Luckily Majeure (aka A.E. Paterra of Zombi) has crafted a way-back machine to take us to a time when the future was all flying cars, alien cohabitation and power laces. Armed [with] countless vintage synthesizers and Paterra’s hallmark drumming heroics, Timespan is equal parts science fiction and sinister disco, and all parts awesome. Three side-long epics, available only on deluxe double LP with a brilliant laser etching and a download code for those of you without portable record players.

Download “Teleforce” for free at Temporary Residence, linked above, or stream that track and two others at his Myspace page.

The verdict? You all know this column prefers the Strat to the synth, but the song is the thing. And the music is entrancing. Go give it a whirl.
