As a Caucasian Suburbanite I don’t always get rap. I don’t understand most of the slang and have to assume what is being talked about and am probably wrong most of the time. Enter Rap Exegesis, (has now changed it’s name to Rap Genius) the dummies guide to rap. You can either pick from their list or search for a certain rapper or song. This is definitely a work in progress as there are only 24 songs completed and lots in the hopper.
Huh, who knew that “Toney with the Montata, I came to play” meant “A playful way to say that he, whose nickname is Pretty Toney, came with the “Montana” (cocaine), and wants to have a good time.” From the Ghostface Killah track “Big Girl”.
You learn something knew everyday.

I like your subject here, but I find myself asking a question about it…Do you as the author of this like rap?

For the most part, I will admit, I’m not a huge rap fan. I appreciate the genre but unless I’m in the mood for it then I don’t usually turn it on.
I notice that a lot of non-rap fans end up liking it when they are in a party/dancing atmosphere. Would you agree that you are inclined to like this genre in that type of environment over alternative circumstances?

Yes, I would have to agree that a rap playlist at a party is usually where it would fit in for me.
