Flight of The Conchords: The Movie

I can usually gauge my enjoyment of a television show based on how much my wife hates it. Flight of The Conchords is the perfect example of this. While I roll on the floor laughing...

“When the music stops he falls back into this abyss”

Some reflections for Thanksgiving: most of us make jokes about our flagging memories, but this is something to put almost all of that in perspective. -- Scientists are trying to understand how amnesiacs can lose all memory...

It's like that, eh?

A guy makes one simple request…

In all seriousness though, please do sound off in the comments section. Lurkers, regulars, or those paid for corporate espionage, please let us know who you are and where you are musically. If you prefer, give an alias or a first name only. It won’t hurt, I promise. See? I’ll start.

Hi, I’m Fred. (“Hi, Fred.”) Author of this post and co-founder of this blog. Haven’t been to a live show in years but might actually go see Russian Circles in November. Turn ons: Arcade Fire, Beirut, DeVotchKa, Radiohead, Radiohead and Philosophy, Ann Althouse’s music posts, free iPhone apps, experiments that work.

Turn offs: indie-for-its-own-sake, anything sung by Scarlett Johansson, celebrity journalism.

My most-read post is this one. Arrgh!

My most-read music post is this one. Proper!

Oh yeah, and, yes, I forgot to pick up my dry cleaning.

Hi my name is Patrick and I’ve been an indie snob for 2 years. It’s been 5 weeks since the last time I scoffed at someone for their musical taste. (scattered applause)

My musical tastes tend to lean towards the outright, twelve o’clock indie fare with a touch of folk occasionally. I have gone through many musical phases over the past ten years but it seems that indie is going to stick around for a while.

I also have not gone to a live show in many years. I believe the last show I went to was Eric Hutchinson with the wife.

My most-read post is this one. Almost 10,000 hits and not one comment.

Hi, my name is Jill and I am a big fan of my little brother, Patrick, which is the main reason I read this blog.

My musical tastes tend toward songs with a decent beat and melody and lyrics that I can actually understand. I would elaborate more, but it would probably cause my brother to disown me. OH and I like some 80s music.

My last live concert was No Doubt. It is one of my husband’s favorite bands.

  4. The wife says:

Hi my name is Amber, aka The wife. I love pretty much any kind of music from Hip Hop to Folk. I love love love Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Tori Amos, Bon Iver. But, I’m not a snob, I’m just as happy to listen to Rihanna and lil wayne, ohhh and 50 (fidy). The blog is great, I find new stuff all the time adding to my musical ADD as of late. You guys totally ROCKKKK!
