I haven’t heard the album yet, but what a freakin’ name.
The ensemble is named 65daysofstatic. We already know what you’re thinking: with monikers like these banging around in their orbit, too-clever-by-half, these guys better bring it musically. But we assure you. It’s brought. (That is what you were thinking, though, right? Right?)
As we speak I’m tinkering around in their Myspace space. “Radio Protector,” from their 2005 LP One Time For All Time, starts out as a bittersweet and logical piano lick and then explodes in the sky, if you get me. “Primer” adds a bit of a jazz primer, and is taken from their most recent studio LP, The Destruction of Small Ideas. (Well, then!)
The “Dance Parties [Distant]” remix of “The Distant and Mechanised Glow of Eastern European Dance Parties” (I’m telling you, these names are a music blogger’s wet dream: the copy literally writes itself)…
Finally, from the totem LP, comes “I Swallowed Hard, Like I Understood.” This is a large and expertly-detailed work. Don’t miss it on your trip. I’m tempted to embed the live version below, but instead, why don’t you just click…?
