Taking A Look Back At 2009

It impossible to listen to every album that gets released during 2009 in the many indie genres and sub-genres so it's very easy to pass by many albums that might have deserved a chance at...

Most Grievous of Errors

I have so many release dates running through my head during the year that sometimes they get mixed up and it doesn't help to try and keep track of both US and UK dates. Normally...

We had a bit more year-end stuff planned for you, but our department was recently cut from seven to five, and take a wild guess who got to pick up the slack? So here...

"Micah" by Russian Circles

exilesFrom their 2006 LP Enter, stream it at their Myspace page here. There are at least a few live recordings of the title track of their forthcoming LP Geneva banging around in the innertubes, but the clips I’ve found are pretty poor quality. If you can find something halfway decent, drop us a line. Wikipedia expects a release date of October 20, and it should stand among the best of 2009.

If you haven’t heard Russian Circles yet, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. They’re a true blend of indie, experimental and metal. I suppose that the category “post-rock” will have to do, in spite of the fact that they rock, so, “post” my eye. Comparisons to Explosions in the Sky are inevitable, but unfounded. I much prefer these guys.
