Apparently the whole thing was a hoax.
No one wants to be in a band anymore, they want to be in a band made up of members from other bands. It’s a conundrum, I know. Now even inmates are starting to get the desire to form supergroups, namely Charles Manson and Phil Spector. When Manson heard that Spector was going to be in the same prison as him he asked, via a guard, if Spector would like to work with him at recording his songs. Spector’s wife said “It was creepy. Philip didn’t respond.” Spector’s publicist said the producer “has been very, very alarmed and scared at the notion of Charles Manson contacting him for any reason.”
Hopefully these two can find something in common to build a relationship on. I just can’t think of anything that they have in common though.
