video: “Small Choir,” by Christina Vantzou and Ben Vida

Another track from Christina Vantzou's remix album, and her accompanying video. The film stock of a lovely woman, a frowning man using computers is so outdated is almost comes off as timeless. The...

trailer: Guilt, with OST by Matthew Collings

It seems that longtime TMIM favorite has his own IMDb page now. Matthew Collings has scored the soundtrack for Hakon Palsson's short film Guilt, and -- from the look of it -- served as...

Track 3 from Christina Vantzou's remix album is described only as "Various sounds from Nº1 remixed by Ernest Gibson III." She's put it to video. Pretty creepy. Start to read more about Vantzou here. Normally we...

Find of The Week Vol.1 No.11

everyonesmallI have started this post 5 times by now, each time with a different band. Once I got started something didn’t seem right about what I was hearing and I would scrap the whole thing. But this is going to be the one that makes it to publication.

The Rest is a seven piece band from Canada who will no doubt have to live down Arcade Fire comparisons far into the future. The songs never stand still as they jump from small chamber orchestrations to bombastic poundings on every instrument imaginable. The layers are intertwined so perfectly as to not bog down the songs or get too chaotic.

Their sophomore album, Everyone All At Once was released last Tuesday through Auteur Recordings and from the few tracks that I have listened to it is a hit in my book for sure. Their debut album, Atlantis, Oh Our Saviour can be listened to and downloaded in it’s entirety here, although the legality of the download seems fishy. So venture at your own risk.

Here is the first single from Everyone All At Once titled “Walk On Water (Auspicious Beginnings)”

    Unbelievable. Great find.

You’re right, they’ll be dodging comparisons to Arcade Fire all year. But from what I’ve just heard here, it’s an unfair comparison.
