Today’s lost classic is Gil Scott Heron’s “Lady Day & John Coltrane” from his 1971 release Pieces of a Man.
This series was inspired by this quatrain from Thomas Gray’s poem “Elegy Written in a Country Church-Yard“:
Full many a gem of purest ray serene
The dark unfathom’d caves of ocean bear:
Full many a flower is born to blush unseen,
And waste its sweetness on the desert air.
